Elegant Parisian Brass Desk Lamp by Ferdinand Solère, 1950

Ferdinand Solère / France

Elegant curved brass and black enameled metal desk lamp, designed and stamped in 1950 by designer Ferdinand Solère, who began his career as a graphic designer and eventually became a professor of industrial design at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. This lamp pivots on its base as well as telescopes. A perfect example of Solère's innovative and pragmatic approach to traditional ideas. Lamp takes a smaller bayonet bulb. The switch at the top of the lamp was removed as it was not working and replaced with a brass blank. An in-line switch was installed. In otherwise original condition with visible wear, including denting and light scratches. Wear is consistent with its age and use.
