Hans Wegner designed, black lacquered spindle back rocking chair with paper cord seat. The designer showed an early interest in the rocking chair as a design object and J16 was one of his first chairs ever put into production. FDB Møbler aspired to produce pieces that would be available to everyone, with simple and versatile products that fit into everyday life. This was and remains one of the company's most successful efforts. Lightly refinished but otherwise in original condition with visible wear to the black lacquer frame. There is visible water staining on the seat as well as some breakage to the paper cord. Wear is consistent with its age and use.
