Martin Visser SZ 66 Lounge Chair for 't Spectrum
Martin Visser / 't Spectrum / Netherlands
Mid century chair by Martin Visser for Dutch furniture manufacturer ’t Spectrum. This 1964 piece, the SZ 66 lounge chair ( a “her’s” version to the “his” counter part, the SZ 67 chair) features a chrome frame and wenge arm rests. Newly upholstered in a lipstick red fabric. Visser, a quintessential designer of the Dutch post-war design movement began working for 't Spectrum in 1954 and soon spearheaded the company's entire collection. Visser had an architectural and civil engineering background and his designs were influenced by functionalism, industrial design, and craft-built furniture. Characteristic of his work are the use of welded tubing and sparse, clean and clearly defined forms. The frame is in original condition with some wear consistent with age and use.
