Kho Liang le Red 'Model 662' Sofa for Artifort

Amazing, Mid-Century, low and stealthy, decoratively tufted three seat sofa designed by Kho Liang ie for Artifort Holland. Kho Liang Ie was born in 1927 in Magelang, Dutch East Indies. After Indonesia's independence in 1949, the family moved to the Netherlands where, after completing his studies at the Institute for Applied Arts in 1954, he became editor and later editor-in-chief of the highly influential design magazine Goed Wonen. From 1958 and onward he devoted himself entirely to furniture design. This sofa, one of Ie's signature pieces, in new red upholstery and its original black enameled metal frame is otherwise in original condition with some wear and scratching consistent with its age and use.
