Set of 4 Hindeloopen bar stools with rush seats, oak frame and hand-painted colorful designs. The Hindeloopen style is named after a city in the North of the Netherlands where the Hindeloopers painted furniture, box walls, suitcases, and small furniture in their unique colors and motifs starting in the 17th century. The furniture was painted with curls, flowers, leaves, biblical figures, mythological gods, and allegorical female figures in the traditional colors of red, blue, white, and green. Picture books and picture Bibles served as inspiration. In original condition with visible wear consistent with age and use.
