Webe Pelican Chair by Louis Van Teeffelen

Louis Van Teeffelen / WéBé / Netherlands

Dutch Mid-Century, "Pelican" chair by Louis Van Teeffelen. Dutch Mid-Century designer Louis van Teeffelen (1921–1972) is most renowned for his furniture designs for Wébé. From 1955 until the end of 1967, he served as the factory's chief designer and during this time the firm manufactured high-quality furniture made of teak, rosewood, and occasionally walnut and wenge. It was one of the bigger furniture factories in the Netherlands at the time and created a body of work that is still recognized for its seamless combination of form and function. This chair is great example of the output during the company's best years and has a beautiful teak frame with armrests as well as newly upholstered leaf green velvet seat and back cushions. Frame was lightly refinished, with some visible wear and imperfections remaining that are consistent with its age and use.
