Dutch Mid-Century Heavy Dipped Lava Glaze Vase in Snow White and Brown

Henk Goosen / Atelier de Steenuil / Netherlands

Beautiful, 1960's Dutch Mid-Century vase by Henk Goosen for Atelier de Steenuil. Marked with an owl makers mark a nod to the manufacturer's name which translates to "little owl". The majority of Atelier De Steenuil's pottery is easily identifiable: their vases typically have a dark bottom with a white glaze on top, typically with a pink or green band in the center. Some vases are similar to Groeneveld pottery because of the preferred glazing technique. The majority of De Steenuil's vases and dishes have an image of an owl perched on the bottom.
