1960's Dutch Carnival Parade Heads Jovial Rasta Woman

Netherlands

Mid-Century unique and wonderfully fun large painted papier mache carnival head. This extra large Jovial Rasta Woman head has an infectiously happy yet devious face. Traditionally worn in the southern and eastern provinces of The Netherlands by the crowd in parades or processions during so called "Carnavalsstoeten". During this 3 to 6 day festival normal daily life comes to a near stop in those provinces. There are 9 different heads, listed separately (O298).
